Due to unforeseen circumstances, Jason Roberts, co-founder of the Better Block Project, is unable to present at this year’s event. Fortunately, we have another inspiring and truly entertaining presenter ready to step in. We are thrilled to welcome Charlie Todd, founder of Improv Everywhere, to the UP stage.
Based in New York, Improv Everywhere creates scenes in highly public locations that bring positive experiences to others. Witnesses of these unexpected “pranks” experience moments of chaos and joy that are always unique, intriguing, and entertaining.
Charlie founded Improv Everywhere in 2001, and since that time, he has produced, directed, performed, and documented over 100 “missions” involving thousands of undercover “agents.” Among them are the legendary Grand Central Freeze and the infamous No Pants Subway Ride.
Charlie is the author of the book Causing a Scene, published by Harper Collins, which offers a behind-the-scenes look at some of the group’s most notable stunts. Improv Everywhere has been profiled by many national and international media outlets, including The New York Times, The Today Show, and ABC’s Nightline. The group’s videos have received over 250 million views online.

The UP Experience is pleased to welcome Dr. Boaz Almog, a research physicist at Tel Aviv University in Israel. During his UP presentation, “The Future of Quantum Physics,” Dr. Almog will demonstrate the phenomenon of “quantum locking” and will actually levitate a superconductor on the UP stage. This demonstration is the result of many years of research and development on high-quality superconductors and, although well known to physicists worldwide, has never been seen and demonstrated in such a compelling way.
So just how is it possible for a super-thin, three-inch disk to levitate something 70,000 times its own weight? In this fascinating, futuristic demonstration, Dr. Almog will show how quantum levitation allows a superconductor disk to float over a magnetic rail – completely frictionless and with zero energy loss.
Dr. Almog is part of the superconductivity group at Tel Aviv University, which is currently developing new technologies and applications for superconductors. The group is also dedicated to teaching and educating children and adults about superconductivity around the world.
To learn more about the incredible work of Dr. Boaz Almog, and to witness quantum levitation at work, sign UP today.
